Mercy is a 2026 film directed by Timur Bekmambetov. Starring Chris Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson. In the near future, an advanced AI judge tells a captive detective that he's on trial for the murder of his wife. If he fails to prove his innocence within 90 minutes, he'll be executed on the spot.
I worked with the Virtual Production team at DNEG and Dimension Studio . Also collaborated with the team of Alex McDowell and Andrew Leung on the environment built of the film.
A key focus of this project was the film's interrogation room. While it was a clean, dark, and dimly lit interior, optimizing this minimalist space in Unreal Engine for virtual production was deceptively difficult, often more challenging than a highly complex environment. The necessity for hyper-realistic materials, combined with the nuances of lighting and troubleshooting Lumen noise in a low-light setting, made this an exceptionally rewarding learning experience.
